Celebrating the music and the life of the singer’s singer!
We are delighted to announce that TV’s award winning and musical theatre actor Andrew Lancel is to take over ‘The Joe Longthorne Songbook Tour’ from Darren Day.
Star of TV and musical theatre Andrew – DI Neil Mason in The Bill and most recently Captain Von Trapp in the Sound of Music – joins very special guest Tracey Jordan in the live concert show that celebrates the life of “the singer’s singer” Joe Longthorne.
Tracey was one of Joe’s backing vocalists and the pair are accompanied by the Joe Longthorne Band under the directorship of Andy Mudd, Joe’s musical director, in the much-anticipated nationwide tour.
Andrew is a regular face on both national TV and stage. In addition to his starring role in The Bill, his television acting roles include Frank Foster in Coronation Street and Dr Andrew Collin in Cardiac Arrest. He has also been a regular panellist on C5’s The Wright Stuff.
On stage he has played Brian Epstein in the theatre production of Epstein – The Man Who Made The Beatles and Cilla Black’s husband Bobby in Cilla The Musical as well as his enjoying the starring role in The Sound Of Music. On the silver screen he appears in the film Wide-Eyed and Legless with Julie Walters and Jim Broadbent.
Beginning his career in local theatre and cabaret, Andrew is well established as a stage performer with appearances in productions by Bill Kenwright, Peter Gill and Russell T Davies.
An accomplished singer of many years, he boasts his own acclaimed one-man show and has sung in many prestigious venues including London’s Royal Albert Hall and The Sands in Joe’s stomping ground of Blackpool.
