FRIDAY 14TH FEBRUARY 7.30PM
Swansea City Opera presents
An Evening of Mozart Opera
More than 200 years after his death, Mozart’s star still shines, and he remains the most prolific Austrian composer of all time.
This enticing and delightful production transports audiences back in time to an 18th century salon, with elaborate, classical costumes and ravishing music.
Especially arranged for wind trio, soprano and baritone, this operatic journey includes arias and duets not only from Mozart’s famous works, such as The Marriage of Figaro and The Magic Flute, but also from some of his lesser- known operas. At this performance only, Swansea City Opera will be joined by members of Tees Valley Gilbert and Sullivan Society for three of Mozart’s choruses.
Taking the guise of Mozart’s lifelong friend Emanuel Schikaneder, narrator and singer Brendan Wheatley also wittily charts Mozart’s fascinating life – he was first composing at just five years old – loves and operas.
An evening of top-quality performances and fascinating insights in an accessible and enjoyable format, this will delight avid opera-goers and newcomers alike.
The perfect Valentine’s Day treat!
